A Western Australia resident filmed an extremely rare video of a yawning numbat in Boyagin Nature Reserve, Western Australia. Mark Peter Jackman filmed the video which shows a numbat emerging from a tree-log, yawning and showing its long tongue, on March 1. "Staying at home at the first sign of any possible danger is a survival instinct of the Numbat," Jackman wrote in the caption. Jackman told Storyful that he posted the video as a reflection of the COVID-19 stay-at-home situation, as numbats usually remain in their territories, unless they need to hunt for termites.
