Border Patrol Official Says A Fence Not Useful Along Northern Border

New York Congressman Brian Higgins says that in this highly charged political environment that is lots of talk about building high walls along the northern and southern border, asking officials with the customs and border protection whether that is a good use of resources over hiring more officers. Acting Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol Ronald Vitiello says there is not being a request for a fence on the northern border on account of volume, that there is no place on the northern border where a fence would make the difference. Executive Assistant Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Randolph Alles emphasizes that coordination between Federal, Canadian and local jurisdictions have been crucial. Director of Homeland Security and Justice Issues Rebecca Gambler with the Government Accountability Office adds that transparency with the public is best to justify planned investments.
