Bear-Proof Trash Can Proves Its Worth

A hungry bear's attempts to steal some leftovers were foiled by a "bear-proof" trash can in Asheville, North Carolina. This home security footage was captured by David Oppenheimer, who said that he saw the bear wandering down his driveway when it "met [its] opponent: an old bear-proof trash can on its last leg." "I'd forgotten to unlock it last week, so some sticky leftovers were still inside. The bear took the can for a wild tumble, rattling the ground with a racket that echoed off the concrete - metal brackets clanging, trap door flipping - but, ultimately, no tasty reward," Oppenheimer said.
