General Election 2024: Plymouth Moor View declaration - Fred Thomas win / Johnny Mercer loss; ENGLAND: Devon: Plymouth: INT Fred Thomas MP (Labour: Plymouth Moor View) victory speech SOT - Hugely proud to live in and represent Plymouth / city and country can be better; to have opportunity to be part of making that change the proudest moment of my life / only left the Royal Marines last year, and will serve country with same dedication / thanks returning officers, council elections team, staff, police and volunteers / thanks candidates and outgoing MP / thanks voters / many will have voted Labour for first time in this election, will do everything I can to deliver change / thanks campaign team / thanks Labour councillors / thanks neighbouring MP Luke Pollard / thanks agent and campaign organiser / Plymouth has resoundingly chosen Labour; one focused on the priorities of every day people / will fight for economic security, cheaper bills, safer streets, getting NHS back on its feet and securing better opportunities for our children / will do everything in my power to ensure Plymouth benefits from Labour's green prosperity plan / will have relentless focus on skills pathways in the city to ensure young and not so young are the ones who benefit from these opportunities / will be strong voice for defence jobs and for dockyard workers / will champion Plymouth health services / I am realistic about scale of challenges, but also realistic about practical common sense steps to take to fix them.
