SPEECH - NYC Mayor Adams Announces Plan To Tackle Housing Crisis and Homeless Crisis

The mayor’s plan aims to help individuals exit the shelter system — or avoid it entirely — and move more quickly into permanent affordable housing. Adams highlighted that the plan includes helping move into higher-income neighborhoods that have long been out of reach for lower income families. The reforms include improvements to the City Family Homelessness and Eviction Prevention Supplement (CityFHEPS) housing voucher program, making it quicker and easier to find New Yorkers eligible for the program and making the voucher more flexible and easier to use. The pilot program is called “Street to Housing” – it will place the unsheltered into supportive housing.
