Established in 1998 and covering an area of some 74,000 hectares, the Golfo di Orosei e del Gennargentu National Park is Sardinia’s largest national park. Stretching from the Supramonte Mountains to the spectacular coastline of the Gulf of Orosei, it is one of the Mediterranean's last remaining areas of true wilderness. Reachable only by boat or by strenuous hike from the Golgo Plateau, the picturesque cove of Cala Goloritzè is overlooked by the imposing peak of Punta Salinas and the jagged limestone pinnacle of Punta Caroddi, also known as La Guglia. Cala Goloritzè was declared a natural monument in 1993.
