STRATIFIED COLUMNAR EPITHELIUM---MALE URETHRA (Penile Urethra) in the PENIS, Human, 250X. This is a stratified epithelium with several layers of cells. The superficial cells near the surface are tall, columnar cells. The cells of the basal layer are more cube-shaped (or cuboidal). This image also shows a Basement Membrane and the underlying, supportive connective tissue. This tissue is also found in salivary gland ducts, parts of the pharynx, and in the vas deferens.
