Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) world number 13 Michael Lowe (Port Kembla, NSW, AUS) scored a convincing victory over Paul Canning (SAFR) to advance to round four of the Billabong Pro at Teahupoo, Tahiti. Lowe takes on Brazilian Flavio Padaratz (BRZ) in his next heat. The Billabong Pro is the second Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Championship Tour (WCT) event of the 2001 season featuring the top 44 men surfersand top 16 women surfers in the world and four wildcards, with US$310 000 in prize money.
