No, not at all. I think that a good story is a good story. And if they have their daggers out, well we know some people. He would have been overjoyed. Because it's going to be a big best-seller, and Mario loved best-sellers. Shot zooms in on Karp speaking on a telephone. MS: During phone conversation Karp says"We're getting a lot of entries. I'm thinking of changing my name to Johnny the Pencil." BRIEF CUTS: Mail and a man sorting mail. CU: A person pulls a manuscript out of an envelop CU: The manuscript. CU: Karp flipping through pages. CU: Karp. CU: A "Godfather Returns" manuscript. MS: While sitting at his desk Karp says "Here's one that's not going to work. He this guy's got Michael Corleone going off and falling in love with a spirited strong-willed Native American social activist. I don't see it." BRIEF CUTS: Piles of manuscripts. CU: Handwritten letters. MS: Karp flips through documents. MS: During interview Karp says "This is a little bit bigoted of me, but these two I'm rejecting because they're British. I don't think that the Mafia can be done by a Brit, and if I get lots of angry hate mail and a horse's head in the bed because of this then, then I apologize to the United Kingdom, but no Brits are going to be writing the next"Godfather" novel. They're out. This guy was too mundane. This was too pulpy. This guy was a screenwriter who'd never written a novel. This has nothing to do with the Corleone family at all. I think this guy just had this sitting around on his desk. And the rest of these were unrepresented and not happening.
