David Cameron speech to Conservative Party members in Kent

David Cameron speech to Conservative Party members in Kent; Cameron speech SOT - We're changing the policies we're changing the values of government / On what govt has done for people of Kent / I want you to let people know about the amazing work of Conservative councils in Kent / It's true that 'Good government costs less with the Conservatives' / That's the message for the doorsteps / Please get that message out / Of course there is another vote coming up in may and that is the referendum on the alternative vote / I believe with 10 days to go it is time to get back to the real arguments about this / I'm not here just to argue against the alternative vote even though I think it's an unfair system, undemocratic, hopelessly unclear, much more complicated than what we have / I'm here to argue for the voting system that we have and use in Britain / To me there are some obvious arguments for sticking with what we've got / It's a system that's so clear it can be summed up in one sentence - we all vote for our favourite and the one with the most votes wins / Simple / It is a system so democratic that each person's vote has the same value / You only get to vote once / That's not the same with AV / It's a system so decisive that time and again it has allowed the British people to do something that is vital in a democracy / You've got to be able to kick out tired governments, whether in 1979 or 2010 that is exactly what has happened ./ If we'd had AV at the last election we might well still have Gordon Brown as the prime minister / Don't swap the current system for something that can keep dead governments on life support machines / There's still another week to go in this campaign there are still millions of people that need to be convinced so please help me convince them to keep our system because it's clear it's democratic, it's decisive / Thes are compelling arguments for voting no to AV on May 5th
