Picture shows a wide angle view of the ruins of the open-air courtyard of the Haut-Barr Castle with the old fortified walls, a brownstone wall, trees and a reconstructed stone building (housing public toilets). The castle is a medieval fortress built between the XIth and XIVth centuries on a sandstone formation, near the town of Saverne in Alsace. It was abandonned during the XVIIIth century and became a ruin, free to visit nowadays. The castle is classified as a historical monument since 1874.
