Deforestation vs. Agriculture - Photos

The last frontier of Agriculture in northern Mato Grosso, Brazil's agricultural powerhouse, is also a dilema and reason of concern to many. The agriculture of the "Cerrado" - Brazil's Central-west, only manages to break production records year after year, due to the natural rains, as the region borders the Amazon to the north. However, if in the name of progress and expansion, the frontier moves up into the Amazon, deforestation will reduce the favourable climate impact on the agricultural plains into desertification. A fine balance has been reached, and can not be breached, without putting at risk the agriculture together with the forest, which guarantees the rains it needs.
