KYIV, UKRAINE - 2023/03/18: View of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Ukraine's Ministry of Culture released a statement on March 10, 2023, saying that the National Reserve 'Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra' sent a warning to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) about the termination of their July 2013 agreement on the free use of religious buildings and other property that is owned by the state. In addition, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church must vacate the state-owned premises it leases on monastery grounds by March 29. The announcement follows a December 2022 presidential decree banning activities by religious organizations associated with Russia in Ukraine.
