Former Gurkhas To Recieve Same Personal Pension as British Soldiers

DHAMPUS, NEPAL - MARCH 17: A storm looms over the small mountain village of Dhampus on March 17, 2007 in Nepal. The village is home to many Gurung who are the ethnic majority chosen to be Gurkhas. After 200 years the Gurkhas have finally won equal rights to get the same pension as the rest of the British army, after winning 13 Victoria Crosses and praise for bravery and loyalty in service of the British Crown. The pension deal will be available to all troops who left the Army after 1997. Many ex-Gurkhas like Sargent Gurung are not eligible and are unhappy about the recent annoucement.
