(Original Caption) Making her first official appearance as the wife of the president elect at a fund raising luncheon for the USO at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Mrs. Mamie Eisenhower tastes a piece of "dream cake", favorite of servicemen at USO centers around the nation. She told the luncheon group she was there as the mother of a man fighting in Korea rather than the nest First Lady.
