Italian Carabinieri Seize Three Tonnes Of Cocaine

Three tonnes of cocaine worth more than 400 million euros were seized at the Port of Livorno in late February, this was the second largest cocaine seizure ever in Italy. The drugs had been hidden in backpacks on a ship from Colombia, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, it docked at the port of Livorno before heading onto Marseille, where three people were arrested. The entire operation that led to one of Europe's record seizures, was the result of a joint international investigation between the Marseille Prosecutor's Office, OFAST and the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Florence - DDA Anti-Mafia District Directorate.
