Pilot Martin Jensen with Leo the Lion

Aviator Marten Jensen, second place winner in the 1927 Dole Trans-Pacific Air Race, pictured with the MGM studios lion, Leo. Marten planned to fly Leo from California to New York on a non-stop transcontinental flight in specially built Ryan plane, but Marten crash landed in a remote section of Arizona. Luckily Marten was unhurt and Leo was transported the rest of the way to New York by truck.
