Valcartier army base

Quebec City, Canada - April 8: The well known Minister of the Militia for WW1 and the founder of Valcartier base, Colonel Sam Hughes is part of a history display at headquarters. At the outbreak of WW1, most Canadian soldiers trained at Valcartier Quebec and shipped overseas from Quebec City. The initial training facilities of the base are long gone but a new larger army base is on the same property with 6000 soldiers based there. April 8, 2014.
