Families Of Disappeared Attended Protest Demonstration In Kashmir

SRINAGAR, KASHMIR, INDIA - DECEMBER 10: Relatives of missing person attend a sit-in demonstration organized by Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) to mark the International Day of the Disappeared on August 30, 2015 in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered controlled Kashmir State, India. Dozens of family members of disappeared persons attended the demonstration. Relatives of the missing and international human rights campaigners have joined together in calling for a full inquiry. A statement for the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) issued a statement saying the state should institute an independent commission of inquiry into the complaints of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, tortures, rape and other human rights violations. The objective of the demonstration is to draw the world attention towards what they say is the gross human rights violations by Indian troops in Kashmir. The APDP is spearheading the campaign for what it says are over 10,000 people that have been subjected to enforced disappearance' since 1989, the year an armed rebellion broke out against the Indian ruled Kashmir.
