India's Poor Migrants Rely On Scavenging To Survive In Kashmir

Kashmir has witnessed an unprecedented influx of poor migrants from different parts of India during the last two decades. Many of them have settled in the slums whose number has also grown. Many of them continue to suffer the stigma of low caste degradation and untouchability and live below the poverty line, with little access to education or sanitary living conditions. Whole families, including children, mostly from different Indian states collect scrap to make a living.
