Dec. 1930: Riot police stand by at the subway station Nollendorfplatz (Berlin) to protect a performance of the US-produced movie 'All Quiet On The Western Front' (USA 1930) in the 'Mozartsaal' theater against Nazi disruption. With Goebbels himself in the audience, Nazi agitators blew up the performance and blamed the movie for being jewish propaganda that aimed to debase WW I veterans. The screenplay of 'All Quiet On The Western Front' was written after a novel of the same title by Erich Maria Remarque which was published 2 years before. Both movie and book were banned when Nazis came to power.
