GERMANY - JULY 28: Five jars containing blue synthetic colorants. Ketone Blue B (liquid) manufactured by Farbwerke vormals Meister, Lucius & Brüning of Höchst-am-Main, Germany; Acidviolet B by Chemische Fabriken vormals Weiler ter Meer, Uerdingen-am-Rhein, Germany; Blue for silk T5 B00 by K. Oehler, Offenbach-bei-Main, Germany; Ultramarine 00 by G. Siegle & Co. of Stuttgart; Milori Bl[au] superfine by Siegle. Acid Violet B was a aniline dye introduced by Bayer in 1883. Milori blue is chemically the same as Prussian Blue. Meister, Lucius & Brüning was founded in 1863 as Meister & Lucius; Adolf Brüning became a partner in 1867. It became a limited company in 1880 and was generally known as Farbwerke Hoechst. Joined I.G. Farbenindustrie AG in 1925 and was refounded in 1953 as Farbwerke Hoechst AG. Weiler ter Meer was founded by J. W. Weiler in 1861 and taken over by Edmund ter Meer in 1896. It became part of I.G. Farbenindustrie AG in 1925 and part of Bayer AG when it was refounded in 1951. In 1873 the Stuttgart firm Heinrich Siegle (was acquired by BASF. In 1889 Gustav Siegle (the son of Heinrich Siegle) bought the buildings back and started the production of mineral pigments and lacquers.
