Basketball in school yard

[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] I came across this school in central Bhutan. I followed the class through their entire school day. I first noticed them at assembly time where they all prayed outdoors together with the school's headmaster, then was time for play with glass marbles, and after that all children sat an exam. they sat on the floor of this basketball court, a good distance between each one of them, and in front of them they wrote in an exam textbook which was balanced on a tiny wooden stool/table. When exams were finished they were rewarded with yet more play - this time the older boys chose basketball. I was very surprised that in this quite conservative and remote area of Bhutan, basketball had made true inroads. In most Asian countries, sports are hardly a real part of the curriculum - it's learning by rote which is most important - here in bhutan things are far more advanced than one would dare believe. I found schools all the way up in Laya, in one of Bhutan's remotest areas of all, bordering Tibet and with no roads leading to it (a good 2-3 days' walk from the nearest town). Up there was a school, just like this one, all children clad in this kind of uniform. I was impressed. The tourist dollars in bhutan, and this is an extremely expensive country to visit, are amongst other things used to build schools and hospitals throughout the country, I can attest to this.
