Bodo Ramelow To Likely Become Governor Of Thuringia

ERFURT, GERMANY - NOVEMBER 26: Bodo Ramelow, head of the Die Linke party faction in the Thuringia state parliament, poses for a photo on November 26, 2014 in Erfurt, Germany. Ramelow, following the recent Thuringia state government coalition contract signed by Die Linke, the German Social Democrats (SPD) and the German Greens Party (Buendnis 90/Die Gruenen), will face a vote on December 5 in the Thuringia parliament in which he will likely be named governor of Thuringia. Die Linke is the direct political descendant of the former East German communist party, the SED, and this would be their first governor's seat in post-1989 Germany. Though many see Die Linke as having evolved into a modern, leftist party fully dedicated to democracy, others mistrust it and point to its still-existing communist wing.
