Gurdaspur Terror Attack

Heavily armed men dressed in military fatigues stormed a police station on Monday morning in Punjab's Gurdaspur district, killing four policemen, including Gurdaspur superintendent of police Baljit Singh, three civilians and three militants. Armed police exchanged fire with the attackers, who remained holed up in the police station 10 hours after the assault began at about 5 a.m. (IST). Preliminary probe indicates that the three suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba militants had entered the country from Pakistan through Bamiyal village close to the International Border. They were carrying three AK 47 rifles, several Chinese-made grenades, besides 10 magazines with more than 200 rounds of ammunition.
