The youths had just been informed that the worm castings they were smelling is also called 'worm poop.' The celebration marked the opening of the first school-based community garden in Aurora Public Schools. The project, funded by The Piton Foundation, was made possible through a partnership of Aurora Public Schools, Denver Urban Gardens (DUG), and Anschutz Medical Campus Department of Family Medicine and BRANCH, a multi-disciplinary student organization from the medical campus.
