ERT journalists and technicians broadcast a news report at the ERT headquarters in Athens, on June 28, 2013. Inside Greece's public broadcaster ERT, employees face an uncertain future after the government pulled the plug on the historic company this month to meet pressing cost-cutting requirements by the country's EU-IMF creditors. Some 2,700 staff became redundant almost overnight, and many will not return when a slimmed-down version of the broadcaster eventually returns to the airwaves as the government promises. But even though in limbo, ERT's employees are revelling in newfound independence from state control for the first time in their careers at the company. They are putting the experience to good use, running ERT themselves for the past three weeks in a self-management operation whose sort is unprecedented in Greece.
